Practical guide
Taking a taxi in Agadir: what you need to know
Agadir has two kinds of taxi, the orange petit taxi that runs within the city and the grand taxi that links the airport, the neighbouring towns and the resorts along the coast. This guide explains how they work, what they cost and when a private driver booked in advance is more practical.
Petit taxi or grand taxi: what is the difference?
The petit taxi, orange in Agadir, takes up to 3 passengers and only runs within the urban area. It uses a meter: a trip in town generally costs 10 to 30 MAD, with a 50% surcharge after 8 pm.
The grand taxi, often a Dacia Lodgy or a white Mercedes, takes up to 6 passengers and serves the airport, Inezgane, Taghazout, Taroudant or Tiznit. It has no meter: you share the vehicle seat by seat on fixed routes, or you hire the whole car at a negotiated price.
How much does a taxi from Agadir airport cost?
Petit taxis are not allowed to pick up at the airport. Only grand taxis wait outside the terminal. The official posted fare for Agadir city centre is about 200 MAD per trip, around 19 to 20 €, and many drivers ask for more at night or for a hotel outside the centre.
To Taghazout, expect 300 to 350 MAD. To Taroudant or Tiznit, 400 MAD and more. The price is negotiated before getting in, and you will often have to haggle.
A Taxi4you private transfer to Agadir costs 18 € for 4 passengers, about the price of a grand taxi, with a driver waiting for you and a price known before departure.
Taxi from Agadir to Taghazout: how does it work?
From Agadir city centre, grand taxis leave the Batoir rank for Aourir, Tamraght and Taghazout, at about 10 MAD per seat when shared. It is cheap but slow, and awkward with suitcases or boards.
From the airport, there is no direct line: you have to get to Agadir and change. A private transfer takes 50 minutes and costs 25 € for 4 people, boards included.
When should I book a private driver rather than a taxi?
For a night arrival, a late flight, a group of more than 4 people, a distant destination such as Essaouira or Marrakech, or simply to avoid haggling after a flight. The price is set when booking and the driver waits for you with a sign.
For a short trip in town during the day, the petit taxi remains the right choice.

InDrive and Careem work in Agadir city. Their use at the airport is limited and pick-up there is sometimes refused. For the airport, a booked transfer remains the most reliable option.
